Dr Louise Valentine successfully gained her doctorate in 2003 and subsequently has taken up the post of Lecturer and AHRC Postdoctoral Research Fellow, in the School of Design, University of Dundee.
As part of her Postdoctoral Research remit, she manages a multi-disciplinary team investigating, ‘Past, Present and Future Craft Practice: exploration of the interrelations between skill, intent, and culture.’ She co-ordinates and organises a Steering Committee with representation from the major public bodies and private individuals with an interest in the future of the craft. Within this ambitious, five-year long research project, Valentine is extending her own research developing intelligent questioning and storytelling as a means of helping practitioners place their knowledge and experience in the public domain.
Valentine also has responsibility for the development of a new interdisciplinary/inter-university postgraduate programme entitled, ‘Capitalising on Creativity’ which synthesises creative and management practice.
